Welcome to Tower Road School
There has been a Tower Road School in Boston since 1895. From 1976 to 1991 the school was spread over two sites on Tower Road and Ashlawn Drive. The original Victorian building was closed in 1991 and a new extension of 12 classrooms added on Ashlawn Drive to accommodate 600+ pupils. Since the merger of the sites Tower Road Primary School has continued to grow and develop with exciting new building projects. These include four new classrooms, a purpose built Reception base, Techzone, Reading Centre, Sports Hall including a climbing wall), additional cloakrooms, enlarged offices and a new entrance. A purpose built Year 6 Study Centre completed in 2007 provides the children in their final year with a unique teaching environment designed to help them meet the challenges as young learners in the 21st Century.
The above developments have enabled the Governors to provide the accommodation for three-form entry throughout the school and starting with three classes in Reception. As a direct result of these building programmes and careful financial planning all children are now taught in classes of 30 or less and supported by many non-teaching staff. A magnificent new Sports Hall was completed in September1999 and provides further superb indoor facilities for the children including a climbing wall. The completed Reading Centre is now in use and provides a valuable resource for Reading and Language activities.
This year saw the completion of the new Performing Arts Centre. This is a purpose built addition which has a large Hall which can be used for music or dance. It is equipped with stage lighting, its own sound system and wireless system. It also operates as a small cinema being able to present films to small audiences. Alongside this is the music practice room which is in use daily for children who receive instrumental tuition. The project also extends to the outside of the school where this year we will begin the outdoor learning environment for younger children.
We are proud to be one of the best resourced and equipped primary schools in Lincolnshire offering our children a wide range of opportunities and experiences.
This large primary school consists of five main teaching areas containing twenty two classrooms, each with separate toilet and cloakroom areas. The classrooms are light and pleasant to work in and extremely well equipped with materials, resources and apparatus. In addition there are two large halls for gymnastics and multi-sports which are used for P.E., Games Music, Drama and Assemblies. A special Reading Centre provides a focal point for the children as well as the Techzone with its ' high- tech equipment and latest ICT gadgets. These areas are connected by corridors which are used for display and storing resources. Outside there are four hard- play areas and a large sports field.
Why we believe Tower Road Primary School is a ‘great’ school!
We strongly believe that children learn best in a bright, exciting and stimulating environment in which they know they will be encouraged to make excellent progress, feel safe, have fun, experience both success and disappointment, be proud, be brave, take risks and respect others.
We are proud to be one of the best resourced and equipped primary schools in the country offering our children a wide range of opportunities and experiences from Pond dipping to canoeing; acting to climbing, film making to making music and lots, lots more!
We believe all Tower Road children, during their seven years with us, want to develop into
independent, determined and confident young citizens who become skilled in making informed
personal decisions and ready to meet the challenges of modern day life.
We believe we have high expectations for all our pupils and staff and know that all parents will help Tower Road to continue to be a very successful and thriving school for the benefit of everyone in the community.
